John Edward Bert II

President / Owner

John Edward Bert II, called "John Edward" and sometimes "Edward", is the current President. He took over after the retirement of John B. Bert and Dee Bert in 2013. He is an original co-founder of the business and served as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer from the time the family business was incorporated by the State of Texas in the 1980s. Alongside his role as a company officer, he has also worked in the field as a Project Manager and Estimator.

John Edward grew up in the Lakewood area of Dallas. After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School, he went on to obtain both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in business from Baylor University. While at Baylor, he received an academic merit scholarship from the Accounting Department and was a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the International Honor Society for Economics.

John Edward has been very active in the roofing community. He has served as an Officer and board member of the North Texas Roofing Contractors Association for over six years. In 2007 he served as President of the NTRCA. His experience has also led to insurance appraisal work for Farmers, State Farm, Republic, and Safco insurance companies.

Nicole Bert McElwee

Vice President

Nicole has been our longtime office manager and currently serves as Vice President. Her role covers many areas including production coordinator and marketing. Nicole is our main contact for wholesalers and manufacturers.

Nicole grew up in Dallas, a five-minute drive from our long-time location off Peavy Road next door to SRS Roofing Supply (the same spot as the old Ivey Lumber). She went to high school at Bishop Lynch and is a graduate of St Edward's University in Austin.

In Memoriam

John B. Bert was a cornerstone of Bert Roofing for many years. He learned the trade early and spent decades working in the roofing industry, helping guide the company through steady growth and countless projects across Dallas. His work ethic, practical approach, and commitment to doing things the right way shaped the standards Bert Roofing still operates by today. His influence remains deeply woven into the company's culture, values, and long-term vision. He is missed and loved by many.

John B. Bert, along with his wife Dee Bert, were recipients of the NTRCA's Golden Hammer Award for Industry Leadership.

Beyond the Officers

Project Managers and Crews That Stay

The named officers are a small piece of the picture. The project managers and the crews who actually show up on Dallas roofs are the day-to-day product. Most of our project managers have been with Bert Roofing for years. Most of our installers were trained by people who were trained by people who learned the trade under John B. Bert. When something needs to be fixed five years from now, the same project manager who installed your roof can come look at it.
