Casa Linda Roofing Contractor
Local Experience Rooted in East Dallas Since 1988
What Is Casa Linda?
Casa Linda is a long-established East Dallas neighborhood defined more by history and common local usage than by strict municipal boundaries. Most residents consider Casa Linda to center around Casa Linda Plaza and extend through surrounding streets south of Garland Road, west of Peavy Road, and toward White Rock Lake.
It is a mature, eclectic area made up largely of mid-century homes, rolling lots, and a dense tree canopy. The neighborhood’s character—and its housing stock—reflects post-war Dallas development, with many homes dating from the 1940s through the 1960s, often complemented by later additions and remodels.

Casa Linda
A Roofing Company That Grew Up in Casa Linda
Bert Roofing was founded in 1988, and from the very beginning, our roots have been in Casa Linda.
Our first office operated out of the founders’ home in the neighborhood. From there, the company grew and later moved to Cayuga—still within Casa Linda—where we remained for many years. Today, our office is just off Peavy Road, across from what longtime residents will remember as Ivy Lumber, now SRS Distribution.
This isn’t a marketing claim—it’s lived history. Casa Linda isn’t just an area we serve; it’s where the company started and where it grew up.
Multi-Generation Ties to the Neighborhood
The Bert family’s connection to Casa Linda extends beyond roofing work.
John and Dee Bert, along with their daughters April and Nicole, were active members of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, a cornerstone of the Casa Linda community for decades. April and Nicole both attended Bishop Lynch High School, just minutes away.
Today, Nicole McElwee serves as Bert Roofing’s office manager, continuing a multi-generation connection to both the business and the neighborhood.
Casa Linda: A Neighborhood with Roofing Complexity
Casa Linda is beautiful, but it is not simple from a roofing standpoint.
Many homes feature:
-
Original rooflines combined with later additions
-
Low-pitch or flat roof sections
-
Mixed roofing materials on a single structure
-
Heavy tree cover with branches overhanging roofs
This combination is where experience matters.
Low-Slope and Flat Roof Expertise (A Real Differentiator)
One area where homeowners in Casa Linda often run into trouble is low-slope and flat roofing, especially on additions. Many residential roofing contractors simply don’t have deep experience with these systems.
Bert Roofing does.
Common low-slope systems we install in Casa Linda include:
-
Modified bitumen
-
TPO roofing
A key detail that is frequently missed by less experienced contractors is proper insulation installed above the roof deck. This approach:
-
Helps create proper slope and drainage
-
Improves energy efficiency and comfort
-
Produces a longer-lasting, better-performing roof system
In a neighborhood with so many additions and remodels, this level of expertise is critical.
Mature Trees: Beautiful, but Demanding on Roofs
One of Casa Linda’s defining features is its mature tree canopy. While it adds beauty and character, it also creates real roofing challenges:
-
Overhanging limbs rubbing against shingles
-
Accelerated wear from debris buildup
-
Drainage issues caused by clogged valleys and gutters
Addressing these conditions requires thoughtful material selection, proper detailing, and realistic maintenance planning—not shortcuts.
Roofing Materials Commonly Used in Casa Linda
The most common shingle we install in Casa Linda is GAF Timberline, most often in Weathered Wood. It’s a Class 3 impact-resistant shingle, well suited for North Texas weather.
That said, Casa Linda homes are not one-size-fits-all. We regularly install a wide range of products and systems depending on the home, roof design, and homeowner priorities.
We are certified installers for:
-
GAF
-
Owens Corning
-
CertainTeed
We also install many additional roofing systems beyond those manufacturers.
Experience That Can’t Be Faked
Over the past five decades, we’ve completed thousands of roofing projects across East Dallas, with especially deep experience throughout the neighborhoods surrounding Casa Linda, including ZIP codes 75218 and 75228.
We’ve re-roofed homes, handled additions, addressed flat roofs, and worked on properties where tree cover and complex layouts demand real judgment—not templates.
