Who We Are

A Family Roofing Business, on Dallas Roofs Since 1988

Bert Roofing has been a Texas corporation since 1988, but the family has been working on roofs since the 1960s. Same Cayuga Drive office. Same project managers from year to year. Same Bert family on the title. If something needs to be fixed five years after we install your roof, we will still be here to fix it.

The Short Version

From Insurance Adjusting in the 1960s to 40,000+ Roofs Today

John E. Bert spent the 1960s as an insurance adjuster in Lakewood and Dallas, walking hail-damaged roofs and writing claims. After 50+ years living in the neighborhoods we still serve, he knew the building stock and the storm patterns as well as anyone in the construction business. In 1988, he turned what he learned on the claims side into a contracting business, and the family has been working on Dallas roofs ever since.

Today, Bert Roofing is run by John Edward Bert II, who has served as President of the North Texas Roofing Contractors Association. The company has earned the NTRCA Golden Hammer Award 12 times. We hold an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, where we have been accredited since 1990 with zero unresolved complaints. We are factory-certified by GAF (Preferred Contractor), Owens Corning, CertainTeed, and VELUX.

None of that is the reason to pick us. The reason is that when you call, someone who answers a Dallas number picks up. When the crew shows up, it is a Bert Roofing crew, not a contractor we pulled off Craigslist. And when something goes sideways after the project, you can drive to 10021 Cayuga Drive and talk to a person about it. See everything we do, or read what neighbors say in our customer reviews.

The Storm-Chaser Problem

Why It Matters That We Are Still Here

After every Dallas hail event, dozens of out-of-state crews descend on the metroplex. They take deposits, install roofs that void the manufacturer warranty, and leave. Their phone numbers stop working in year three when the leaks start. Their LLC dissolves in year four when the warranty claim gets denied.

The brand that matters in roofing is not the manufacturer. It is the company that warrants the workmanship. A 30-year shingle installed by a fly-by-night crew is a 5-year roof. The same shingle installed correctly, by certified installers who will still be at the same address in 2030, is a 30-year roof. That is the entire bet.
