Devonshire Roof Replacement with GAF ArmorShield II Shingles
Earlier this September, Bert Roofing completed a full roof replacement on a home along Southwestern Blvd near Douglas Avenue in Devonshire. Like many homes in this Dallas neighborhood, the property was hit by summer hailstorms. After walking the homeowner through the insurance process, we upgraded the project to a Class 4 impact resistant shingle for maximum protection and long-term peace of mind.
Upgraded Materials: GAF CLASS 4 IMPACT RESISTANT
The homeowner chose GAF Timberline ArmorShield II shingles in Slate. This is a Class 4 UL 2218 impact-rated shingle, designed to resist hail and the harsh North Texas climate. Bert Roofing is a GAF Certified Contractor, so we install these shingles according to manufacturer guidelines and can offer enhanced warranty options. For a complete system approach, we installed matching GAF accessories: starter strip, ridge cap, synthetic underlayment, and Ice & Water Shield in the valleys for added leak protection.
Code Compliance and Details
Dallas building code requires certain roofing upgrades, all of which were completed during this project:

New 2″x2″ drip edge (the older 1.5″x1.5″ profile no longer meets code). Learn why this detail matters in our blog on drip edge requirements.

Updated ventilation and plumbing jacks.

Full synthetic underlayment for improved water resistance.
The project also included staining wood trim and fence areas, leaving the entire property looking refreshed once complete.
