Mesquite Project Spotlight: Foxboro Ln Wind-Damage Roof Replacement (Late October 2025)
City: Mesquite, TX • Street: Foxboro Ln (near Meadowview Dr) • Approx. date: Late October 2025
What brought us out
A fast-moving spring storm rolled through Mesquite and left a trail of wind damage along Foxboro Ln. Shingles were lifted and creased, a few tabs tore clean off, and several penetrations needed new seals. Our homeowner wanted two things: a tougher shingle and clean, code-compliant details that hold up over time.
The solution
We replaced the roof with GAF Timberline HDZ® (Hickory)—a proven architectural shingle with a wide nailing zone that helps ensure consistent fastening and strong wind performance when installed to spec. For readers who like to go deeper, here’s the official product page from GAF. (gaf.com)
Scope of work (straight to the point)
- Full tear-off to the deck; replaced compromised decking found during inspection.
- Synthetic underlayment across the field; self-adhered membrane at eaves/valleys per best practice.
- New kick-out drip edge and properly hemmed edge metal for a clean finish.
- Correct starter at eaves and rakes (often missed in storm scopes).
- Fresh pipe boots and a mast slit boot; refabricated step and chimney flashings as needed.
- Balanced ventilation per roof design.
- Final magnet sweep and haul-off—no mess left behind.

Why Timberline HDZ® made sense here
- Wind performance when installed correctly: The larger nailing zone helps ensure accurate fastening across the field and perimeters.
- Proven look: The Hickory color complements brick and neutral exterior palettes common in this part of Mesquite. GAF’s official materials highlight how Hickory pairs well with brick and stone. (documents.gaf.com)
- Long-term value: Readily available accessories, clear spec sheets, and a strong manufacturer program simplify maintenance and warranty registration. (documents.gaf.com)

Who we are (and what you can expect)
Bert Roofing is an RCAT-licensed Dallas-area contractor with decades of local experience. We install GAF systems every week and can register eligible GAF system warranties when the full program requirements are met—no hype, just the right paperwork and a by-the-book install. If you’re comparing bids, make sure they include starter, correct drip-edge profile, proper valley liner, and real disposal/haul-off—those items are often under-scoped in quick storm estimates.
Thinking about your own roof?
- Get a bid that matches code and manufacturer specs. If your roof took wind, creases and missing tabs are not just cosmetic.
