Casa Linda is not just an area we serve. It is where Bert Roofing started. We founded the company in 1988 out of a family home in the neighborhood, and our office today sits just off Peavy Road, across from what longtime residents remember as Ivy Lumber, now SRS Distribution. After thousands of East Dallas roofs, the patterns here are familiar.

A Roofing Company That Grew Up in Casa Linda
Casa Linda is a long-established East Dallas neighborhood defined more by history and local usage than by strict boundaries. Most residents consider it to center on Casa Linda Plaza and extend through the streets south of Garland Road, west of Peavy Road, and toward White Rock Lake. It is a mature, eclectic area of mid-century homes, rolling lots, and a dense tree canopy, with much of the housing dating from the 1940s through the 1960s.
Bert Roofing was founded here in 1988. Our first office operated out of the founders' home in the neighborhood, then moved to Cayuga, still within Casa Linda, where we stayed for many years. The Bert family's connection runs deeper than the work: John and Dee Bert and their daughters April and Nicole were active members of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, and both daughters attended Bishop Lynch High School nearby. Today Nicole McElwee serves as our office manager, continuing a multi-generation tie to both the business and the neighborhood. Meet our management team.

What Casa Linda Roofs Need
Beautiful, But Not Simple From a Roofing Standpoint
Many Casa Linda homes combine an original roofline with later additions, low-pitch or flat roof sections, and more than one roofing material on a single structure, all under heavy tree cover. That mix is exactly where experience matters, and it is where less experienced contractors tend to get into trouble.
Low-slope and flat roofing, especially over additions, is a real differentiator here. We regularly install modified bitumen and TPO systems, and we install proper insulation above the roof deck, a detail that is frequently missed. Done right, it creates correct slope and drainage, improves energy efficiency, and produces a longer-lasting roof. The mature tree canopy that gives Casa Linda its character also means overhanging limbs, debris buildup, and clogged valleys, so material selection and realistic maintenance planning matter as much as the install.
